putting on the 2.8 headers
putting on the 2.8 headers
well i started my new exhaust today i only got one exhaust manifold off and already im screwed. i was going through and losening each bolt on the stock manifolds before completely removing them and the very last bolt i go to losen isnt there. at this point i pretty much new what happend the old bolt was probally all rust and brok off in the head from vibration. well 2 hours later when i get the manifold off i see im right. is there an easier way of taking the brok bolt out, or do i really got the take off the entire head???
and for any that wants to know the pacesetter headers line up and fit perfectly on an 87 camaro., no problems so far.

Get a 90* drill and drill a hole in the center of the old bolt, then soak the hell out of it with Liquid wrench, PB Blaster, WD40 or whatever your preference on penetrating oil is, then EZ-out it.
Just make sure that you drill the hole straight and clean.
If you screw up, you'll have to drill it out to the next bigger size and heli-coil it.

the only problems we have seen w/ putting those headers on is the pipes lining up or hitting the oil pan, the headers themselves bolt up quite nicely, its down a lil farther that you may run into problems. one of the flanges on mine sits about .00000000007 (well not really) away from my oil pan. and if youre running the longer oil filter, you may not be able to anymore, unless they finally did modify the left side header to fit it.

Mine was just touching the side if the oil filter. Few taps with the hammer gave it just under a 1/4 inch of clearance.
The section running under the front half of the oil pan was too long. I had to cut it, had a muffler shop spread one half a little, install into the car and then weld it.
I should have driven the 3.4 with the manifolds first, and then installed the headers so I'd know the gas mileage and power difference, but I didn't.

yeah there doesnt seem to be a problem with them fitting or clearance, but i have three bolts that were broke in the heads 2 on one side and 1 on the other. so now im stuck between a rock and a hard place as wheather or not to take the heads off or not. i think im going to have to but i really dont want to any sugestions there really isnt enough room to drill a hole and tap the bolts out.
