92 3.1L Timing Chain Cover Gasket
I pulled the timing chain cover to change the cam and timing parts. The cover sits on top of the front of the oil pan and there is a rubber gasket that the cover sits in to seal it. It was stuck with some type of gasket sealer so a little tough getting it off. Now, I need to reassemble it. Is the pan gasket all one piece all the way around or is it a separate gasket for just that little front portion? I didn't want to disturb it too much until I know how the gasket goes together there... Should I just clean the old gasket and put a bunch of sealer on it and reassemble??? What kind of sealer should I use there the old sealer doesn't look like silicone RTV.???..

That front part is seperate. You have to buy a new oil pan gasket set to get it I think. I don't think that it comes with the timing chain cover gasket set.

3.1 design is all one oil pan gasket. I have MORE then once just put the timing cover on and used a small worn out screw driver to wiggle that gasket around to make a flat surface.
Sometimes I did use RTV, sometimes I didnt.

Thanks, I think I will clean it with alcohol and then use some RTV on it... Probably better than cutting it out and splicing in a new piece... It actually doesn't look that bad...
