leaking injectors

whatsup... this firebird of mine is giving me one problem after another.. it runs pretty good but has a few issues.

first off i re-did all the intake mainfold gaskets on my 2.8 along with..

coil
o2 sensor
tps sensor
plugs + wires
distributor cap
rotor
junkyard INJECTORS
termostat

the car runs fine most of the time with no problem and has never left me standed anywhere but this thing BURNS gas like crazy..

i just put in 3 gallons and drove it bone dry and got 25miles out of it.

Just recently about a month after i installed the injectors and did the gaskets
the car was running alittle rough and now when i start the car and drive it around for about 10minutes and let it sit for 1 hour it will crank and crank before it wants to start. when it does start up it smokes pretty badly.

it only does it when i let the car sit for more than 15 mintues..

i havent had a chance to test the fuel pressure but im sure someone will know the cause of this.

all sensors are good and the car runs just fine except for starting.

the car does this only after driving it once... in the morning on cold start it starts up perfect everytime.

Re: leaking injectors

yes i put new o-rings.. i did not want to have to rip the manifold apart again but i did this morning....

today i got some different injectors of a lower mileage 2.8 fwd.

but when i was taking the injectors out of the rail gas started to drip from the vaccume inlet on the FPR.. i was shaking it around and it started to drip and could hear a rattling noise coming from the inside of it.

does this mean my FPR is bad?

Re: leaking injectors

ok i got the different injectors in and it has hardly no starting problems at all but now when it fires up the RPMS are really low when it first turns on then they will raise and lower for a second till they get steady about 10 seconds later.

what are symoptoms of a bad fuel pressure regulator?

and gas was leaking out of the vaccume inlet only when i had the fuel rail off the car.

Re: leaking injectors

If you are getting gas out of the vacuum port of the FPR you may also be sucking fuel through the vacuum system while it is running. Definately could cause your mileage and running rich condition. Replace the FPR for sure.

Re: leaking injectors

hey guys it did turn out to be the fuel pressure regulator.. I replaced it yesterday morning and when i took the old one out it had a huge rip in the rubber diaphram thing.

my gas mileage is up alittle now but from 10mpg to 16mpg.

Does anyone have problems with there spark plugs arcing to the heads?
