odd idle

well i did the old 3.4 swap had some gas problems and dozens more finally got it all good and smooth only thing is that she wants to idle at 1200 rpm which is fairly high.

I got 13 inches of vacuum.

The book says i only need 10 so i geuss that's alright.

When i let off the gas it bogs and almost sounds like it's going to stall, but it sits at idle.

I'm pulling a code 34 or whatever code it is (might be 43) for a MAF sensor but i'm thinking it's in the circuit itself i don't really think a MAF sensor can just crap out like that but i could be wrong. It also sounds like it's lacking power. I'm thinking that since my MAF it is out it's going into a limp home mode because it has no clue how much gas to mix in with the air or vice versa.

Me my brothers and my cousin are all stumped on this one i should of just stuck a carb on it then i probably wouldn't have so many problems.

Re: odd idle

somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's low manifold vacuum....I get a steady 22 inches on my 3.1. Were are taking the vacuum reading at?

Re: odd idle

yeah, that's a low reading, nust be a misprint in the book.

you should have right around 18" of vacuum at idle. With a low vacuum reading, the ECM will think that you're under a load and add fuel, raising the idle. A small vacuum leak will do this to you, so I suggest you get a can of carb cleaner and spray away.

Find the source of the leak and you'll fix the high idle problem.

Re: odd idle

alright cool i'll do that. If u spray carb cleaner into a vacuum leak it will raise ur idle so u know where it would be right. Also is there supossed to be a inline fuse for the MAF circuit?
