Re: turbo v6 question
well...let s put it this way, there's a reason they didn't put a 5 speed behind the 350's in 3rd gens. They're unreliable once you get over about 325 ft/lbs of torque. Some people have been fine with them, others...not so much.
If you were serious about building it and have the money, I would definitly consider an aftermarket 5 or 6-speed if you wanted to bang gears, otherwise, a well built auto with a good stall converter.

Re: turbo v6 question
The T-5 especially WC will tak a LOT of abuse, hell even the non-WC will take that much power and more. I have about that from my old set-up (270 at the wheels, a little over 300 at the crank), and had no problems with the "4 cyl" tranny I had in there, in fact I'll continue to run it when I gete it back out.

theres guys making 400 hp with t5's,it all depends on how bad u abuse it, if u rev the motor to 4,000 and drop sidestep the clutch it not gonna last long.
generally with a stick car u usually break the ring an pinion before u break the trans
Re: turbo v6 question
+1If you are really good with launching, you will only burn clutches. My old car, I could maintain a perfect 3k RPM (powerband) launch and only hear a little chirping from the tires by playing with the clutch (it's the shock you have to worry about).

Re: turbo v6 question
Please correct me if I'm mistaken, I may have bad info, but don't the 60* T5's have a smaller input shaft than their 90* counterparts? I agree, it's all in how you abuse it, I have no doubt that you can get a t5 to stand up to turbo power, but there is a small question about the reliability...

Still attempting to ;learn how to powershift without the clutch, the only times I've done it successfully was when I was pissed off
