major vaccume problem?

alright guys im fed up with my 2.8 like 50% of the people on this board..

my car burns up gas soo badly i get 12.5mpg... things i've fixed..

new maf
new fpr
new icm
new wires
new plugs
new pcv
new cap + rotor
new alternator
new belts
new battery
new wheel bearings
used throttle body
used TPS
redone all upper gaskets besides the heads(heads done at 100k..now 150k)
good junkyard injectors with new o-rings
seafoamed engine...

on idle it seems ok until i put it in drive.

OK i hooked up a vaccume gauge yesterday and it come up on 15inches of vac... but once i put it into drive the vac. drops to 9inches and the car is pretty rough.

i taped the gauge to my window and drove around with it on there too see what it was.. and if the give it 1/3 throttle the vac drops to 0inches but if i just gas it bearly it will drop only to about 5inches.

then once throttle i released it shoots to 20inches then drops to 10-15 once again.

my uncle said this is not normal and i cannot find any vaccume leaks although i have a whistling noise at part throttle only about 2k RPMS though.

i've plugged almost every vaccume line to see if i can get a different in vac. but nothing seems to work... the only thing have not been able to check is the vaccume port that is in the intake manifold that runs under the Upper manifold.

i try to fix this problem almost every other day but it never seems to get better its stuck on this bad idle in drive and burning gas thing... by the amount of stuff i've replaced i would think i would see a large improvement in every way the car drives.

i've sprayed carb cleaner everywhere and cannot seem to find a leak.. has anyone had a hidden leak like this?

Re: major vaccume problem?

replace all of your vacuum lines... it cost me ~$20 at O'reillys (autozone, napa) or wherever you want to find vacuum line. small, medium, and large, as well as the hard vacuum lines, which you need to double check them (pull them out and put in new ones, double check)... it is very simple. also, do a reading right at the canister, you may have a going out canister? Also, check the cruise control ball, make sure that is not leaking either.

Re: major vaccume problem?

ever clean the egr valve out?? prolly not the reason it gets a whistling noise but if its clogged or anything like that it can cause ruff idling..

Re: major vaccume problem?

the whistling is in your throttle body. the throttle shaft bushings are wore out. try to wobble the shaft up and down while looking at your throttle plate. if it has any visible movement then it is sucking air from around the throttle shaft. when you replaced it with a used one you should of checked it for cracks and throttle shaft play. hope that i could be a help.
