Finding out all kinds of fun stuff...

So Ive been having some problems with my car. I have ruled out the possibility of my tranny being the problem, seeing how it has been stalling at idle. Although the only code I ever get is code 14. As a guess I unplugged my amp today, trying to keep it running, and it ran like normal. So Im obviously having charging problems. Still cant figure why I only get the code when it stalls though.
Whats fun about that, when I was looking at the engine while it was running I heard a rattle. I thought this rattle was bad bearings in my AC compressor... nope. I followed it to right behind my alt., and it sounded like it was in my valve cover . Its not constant, It comes and goes. Ill just add it to the list.

I have a video that you can hear the noise. Can anyone take a guess as to what you think this is?
Its usually more constant when its idling. I was reving it a little bit.

Brushes in your alternator maybe?? Are your lights dimming at night w/the rough idle? Im no expert, just taking a guess. Try taking a wood pole (like a broom handle at least 2 feet) and put it up against the alternator then put your ear on the other end of the pole and see if you hear that same noise coming from there when its running. Try and have a buddy rev the engine a bit while your doing that. Thats my Grampa's old school method.
