36 MPG, good or bad?
I got 540 KM to a tank of gas, 59 Litre tank, with some conversions and fun stuff it was roughly 36 MPG. Is this normal for a 3rd gen?
Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
Um.
Did you put a hybrid engine in it?
Sounds nearly impossible to me. Are you sure all the math and numbers were right? I'm horrible with math so I wont even try.

Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
hmm.. thats a possibility, I've had 2 hours sleep in 3 days so I'm kinda worn out.. But I found out what I did wrong, I typed the wrong numbers into the windows calc. It was 400 KM on the odometer when I filled it up again, that was almost empty. so 400/59 comes out to 6KM per litre..

So what is the American conversion. I could believe 26 but 36 is rediculously good.

I got 35mpg on time on a trip from L.A. to Phoenix.
26mpg on the freeway is considered excellent for our cars, 20mpg in the city.

KM to Miles: 0.621371192
Litres to gallons: 0.264172051
Therefore: 400km = 248.55mi and 59 litres = 15.57 gallons
Looks like if your numbers are correct, you achieved 15.96 MPG. If your original 540km for the tank is correct then you achieved 21.55 MPG.
Hope that helps.
Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
I can squeeze out 210 miles per tank in my 3.1 if Im lucky
. Will be fixing that next....at 3.60 a gal, cmon!
Kevman Looks like your getting good numbers though.

I once got 270 miles on half a tank from here to North Carolina; I still can't believe it myself, but the sending unit and my math are all right.

I usually see 275 miles with mixed driving. I have never taken my car on a trip, I'll put the miles on the Ford or Lincoln first, lol.

yup, 29 in city. being a manual it really helps with gas milage. and the holley street dominator is an amazing carb. it's a big help with fuel economy.

Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
I was getting 28 avg to 33 freeway with my 2.8. 360-380 miles between fillups.
The 3.4 has been sucking down gas (22 ish) I was barely able to go 300 between fillups.
I managed to get up to 24mpg lately after advancing the base timing to 10ish, replacing some vac lines, and getting it aligned.
I don't know how many miles though per tank, as I can't bring myself to drive that long without buying gas because I gotta keep getting it before the next price increase every 4 days.

Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
I get just a tad over 200 miles on a full tank if I stay strickly on the highway (and under 100mph).
a little over 150miles in the city when I am hot ******* the car.
I really need to get an LSX/T56 setup with gas at $3/gallon.
EDIT: why do I keep posting in the V6 forum?

Re: 36 MPG, good or bad?
I get about 16 MPG in the city and about 22 on the HWY. My mileage really depends on my driving behaviour. Sometimes I get 13 MPG in the city (having fun) and other times I can get up to 18 MPG in the city with good driving manners.
