Re: Dieing Fuel Pump?

well today on the way home from school it had no power i floored it and it actually didnt do anything. then sometimes when im going down the road with a steady pressure on the gas pedal the tach shoots up 500 rpms and for some reason the motor seems louder than ever. 1992 3.1 v6 automatic. i just changed the fuel filter but i may have slightly caved a line in..just barely though and it ran fine for a few days after.

Re: Dieing Fuel Pump?

Sounds more like a fuel delivery/engine control problem than a fuel supply problem.

Re: Dieing Fuel Pump?

Get a fuel pressure gague and check your pressure. Also put a can of seafoam through your fuel system and vaccum system to clean out anything that may be causing your issues.

If you are talking about the fuel pressure gague then there is a cap (looks like a valve stem cap) that is on the part of the fuel rail where the fuel lines connect. It is right behind the UIM and you should be able to get to it. I have never used one but you get a fuel pressure gague and take that cap off then attach the gague and see where the pressure when the pump primes and when the motor is running.
