1- Where does the other end of this vac line go? The one end goes into that thing with the screws around.

2- What is the size of the bolt that holds the bracket to the back of the alternator?

3- Underdrive Pulley. Is there a noticeable difference when putting on a performance Underdrive Pulley? I've read that it frees up lost horsepower since it spins more freely.

1. thats the fuel pressure regulator vac line, it goes into the back of the throttle body, and the thing with the bolts around it is the fuel pressure regulator.

2. im not sure what your asking the bolt lenght? or size?

3. yeah it frees up power casue it spins less(i think thats how its goes) but on an all stock motor you prob wont notice anything.

I need to know what bolt goes where my finger is pointed.

As for the vac line here's a couple of pics.


As you can see its a long line. Rubber, not plastic.


It T's off. The line in question goes to the left.


The line to the right goes to the throttle body. As you can see here. The circle to the right, by my thumb, has no hole on that side.


From the opposite side, now its on the left, there is a little hole there but it doesn't go totally thru.

So.......um.............now what? BTW this is a 2.8 MPFI if that helps any.

You don't have a 2.8, unless you swapped one of them in there. The vacuum line your referring to goes from the fuel pressure regulator (it splits from the regulator), one line goes to the throttle body, and the other goes to the Air Managenment Valve, found on the back of your smog pump....

Yea it's a 2.8 from my 89 RS. But yea your right it does go to the smog pump. I should have looked at that little diagram thats on the bottom of the hood. d'oh!

for the price of the crank UD pulley, i dont know if id worry about it, unless you find a good deal or have to replace it anyway. mine was $60, plus belt, which could have been better spent. but ive got it so, no turning back. ehhhh

Why would you need to get a new belt? Is it smaller?

yes, theyre smaller, theyre about 25% smaller. i have a pic of the OE and the UD pulleys on my cardomain site, but i cant get to it right now to show you the pic. theres a link to it in my sig, you can see it there.

Wow didn't know that at all. Thanks for the tip on that one. Any idea where I would be able to get that belt for the 2.8 when/if I decide to go with that?

you should be able to get it throught the company that sells the pulley. i deleted my AIR pump, so i had to find one on my own. i took a piece of rope and routed it like the belt goes. then i took a couple inches off that measurement and got a belt based on the length i needed. i think it was 72.5 or 73.5 inches long. if you have A/C or AIR, yours will be different and they should be able to tell you how long it needs to be.
