The motor looks good. Can't wait to see the new 3.4 going in the place of the 3.1. Are you going with a 3400 or 3500 top end?

3500, I just haven't changed my sig. The 3500 top end doesn't work on a 3.1, but when I decided to use a 3.4 because it has DIS...
Figures too, I just bought the last piece of the 3400 top end (plenum) ans came across an awsome deal on a complete 3500 top inluding the fuel rail. It only has 2000 miles on it
.
At first, I'll probably re-use the iron heads and get the motor in and runing on DIS. Then I will make another turbo system and then move on to the hybrid. I figure in a couple of months, it will be running again. There aren't too many friends that have the kind skills to do some of this, one neighbor will help me with muscle when I need it, so that's good. Plans also incude some turbo headers.
I just don't have as much time as some other guys, the kids go to bed at 8, and I have turn off the compressor, grinder, etc at 10 because of sound ordinance where I live. If I get home in enought time before we relieve the nanny, then I can use that time as well. The wife starts to get cranky after a week strait or so doing this, but she is pretty cool about me working on it.

Skip the iron heac top end and go straight to the genIII top end, you'll thank yourself, for spending LESS time, and LESS money on it in teh long run. Besides to get the gen III top end in the car and working now will not be that difficult overall.
Keep the 3400 fuel rail, since you'll need to use that with your existing fuel system, 3500 is returnless, and requires a fuel pump that is PWM controlled, to control pressure.

Thanks for the heads up on the fuel rail, I actually just read that yesterday, too. As soon as I skimed over your post, that stuck out. Besides the guy interested in the 3400 top has a fuel rail, duh. He want to trade a pair of m90's for it, one rebuilt/ported, and the other needs a new pulley (came off a running car). I don't know what I am going to do with it yet, but the right price/trade will come along.

Do I have to make everything for you, JK.No, I have some aluminum straping I can send with it, I actually might try and use some 90* couplers at the I/C to make it vertical to flow better. You have a Camaro, so the grille will let more air into it on your car. I forgot to ask what side your battery is on, though.

. The air dam should push air up through the IC, while the grille gives the radiator air. But it really doesnt matter to me, I was just joking...whos going to be under there looking at that anyways. The battery is on the driver side, That was one of the deciding factors. Supreme Member
