Gas Cap
Has anyone ever had trouble tightening their gas cap all the way down? Not until the last couple years I have has a problem with it. I have replaced it twice in the last couple years too. What will happen is the thing will click before it ever is completely sealed so gas will leak out. I thought the problem was the gas cap of the filler neck but I found something interesting. I was so pissed at the thing tonight when it would not close all the way. So I got the idea to freeze it with a can of compressed air turned upsidedown. When I froze the thing it turned without catching and closed perfectly. I cannot figure out why these ACDelco caps I have been getting seem to have issues. Is this just my problem for buying ACDelco gas caps?

Re: Gas Cap
Yep, was like that since new. What I did was to file a little off of the cap threads. This is the highest outer portion of the threads on the gas cap. Used a flat file and took maybe a 1/32" off all around. The cap now goes on without a hint of trouble.
The click-before-tight was mostly an issue in the summer. During the colder months it rarely had a problem threading on.

Re: Gas Cap
That is what mine does. It has a hard time in the summer and it has been pretty hot lately in the 90s and close to 100. Either way I just keep buying new caps and I guess I don't really have to. I am glad it doesn't only happen to me.
