Your opinion about a engine, Complete ECM removal after swap?
Hello guys,
I hope this is the right forum for this. I come from Europe, still driving my 92' Firebird with the good-old V6, but maybe I will swap it.
A good friend of mine sells his spare car with an pre-1986 350 Chevy in it, now I am thinking about to buy this engine with the car.
All I actually know is that the block casting number is 3970010 and the head casting number is 333882 C87 GM40. The engine has Headers, a Edelbrock Performer intake and a Holley carb - this is all I know untill now.
Maybe someone of you is able to say if that would be a nice swap? The engine runs and he is asking for around 700 $ for the car including engine and (probably broken) transmission...
If I really go to carb power, is it possible to completly remove the ecm? What is about speedometer, tachometer, cruise control, etc.? Is it possible to make this things work without the ecm? Please give me some input...
Important note: This has not to be a race car - my intention is to build a nice daily driver with V8 power and automatic transmission.
