I have a 89 firebird with a 2.8 v6 5speed with 169000 miles on it and it started knocking and i had to make it home so as bad as it is i know that the crank is screwed and possibly the rods so i was going to see how much dry nitrous it could take in 1st and 2nd gear from 1500rpms to 4500rpms and i just wanted to see what everyone thought it would take and i figured i would video tape it and post it the only other thing i was going to see was if anyone wanted to donate anything to get a v6 back in it and running anyone care to make a guess on how much nitrous???

 

Don't worry about how much, run a line from the bottle strait into the intake track, have a buddy in the car to operate the bottle. nail it and have your buddy open the bottle and enjoy. make sure you video it

 

that would be no fun im trying to at least have alittle fun when it dies and have some sort of an idea on how much nitrous a good running stock 2.8 could take

 

If it's knocking it won't put up with any nitrous. Dump some octane booster in the tank and if it stops knocking let 'er rip with the nitrous and see what you can get out of it. If you think the rod's knocking leave it alone, unless you want to shoot a rod out the block. In that case have fun!

You can get away with a 75-100 shot out of a good 2.8, sometimes more if you tune it right. They came with forged rods and a nodular crank from the factory so they can put up with more abuse than most people think.
