Re: 92 camaro life

It boils down to the old expression "that depends".

How many previous owners did the car have? When I bought my car it had 1 previous owner and it only had 75K. I have owned my car for seven years and the car still gets routine maintenance on all engine and drivetrain .

What were the ages of the previous owners? The previous owner was an adult women and all of the dealer service records to include recall repairs were in the car when I bought it (I also met the previous owner even though I bought used from a GM dealer). Therefore I could assume that the car was not used as a street racer. The CARFAX report showed that there were not insurance claims on the car.

What is the intended use of the car? I use my car as a commuter (ten miles roundtrip) and go to races at Daytona, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. I average 19/31 mpg (your mileage may vary).

Modifications to my car. Remove anything that I don't use (like rear seats) that creates weight. Lots of suspension mods. Aluminum rear drums. Intake setup from 87 Camaro 2.8 with K&Ns. MSD Blaster coil (old one went bad).

Re: 92 camaro life

I currently have 281,000 miles(1,483,680,000+ feet ) on my motor and trans...neither one has ever been rebuilt although I did do the valves once.

I also beat the crap out of my car, I'm a mechanic and we are the worst people about maintaining our cars, as long as it starts, has oil and stays out of the red on the temp guage...it's good to go...lol

Re: 92 camaro life

as stated before it all depends how it was treated before,my camaro has 200,000 miles on it and other than a valve gasket leak it runs fine all the cylinders have great compression and other than a little things i have to get around to fixing its still runs hard, had to rebuild tranny because previous owner was some kid that would run the car hard and im pretty sure he reverse droped it because my tranny would not want to catch gear.
