My '85 Firebird seems to do what it wants. The car runs and drives great, but on occasion it acts up and won't idle and just dies. Upon starting it back up though, as long as you give it throttle it runs fine. And then it magically fixes itself and idles smoothly at 700-800rpm. Also, the Check Engine light will sometimes come on when it won't idle, and then shut off. I suspect it is something electronic as it comes and goes? How do I retrieve a code? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
