where in NJ is the car located? I may need to take a ride up there for a closer look. Those doors look nice and straight...the tires may be better than my bald radials...what about the entire car? I got a few yards down here that can take it... (wife might kill me but oh well)

the drivers side door is in great shape the passenger side door has rust its repairable but it has rust. as far as the car goes 99% of people would junk it but personaly i think it can be saved sense iv owned worse. you can put your hand thru both quarter panels the passenger door and passenger fender need rust repair and the drivers floor pan will also need work. here are acouple close up pictures

Thanks for the additional pics
Although I've done some rust repair in the past, it has mostly been surface stuff. until I learn to weld, panel replacement is beyond my skills.
I'm basically looking for a donor car. my 86 is a v6 with T-tops that I hope to get running and tagged one day. but being a trooper and having a family, I tend to farm out alot of work I used to do in the past due to time constraints.
My 86 has been suffering from a crank/no start problem. Figured if I had a running car I could replace what's bad on mine, and after that send the remains to a resting place.
Looking at the car, it could be saved. but I've become a bit less sentimental over the years. The amount of bodywork needed for that model is not a financially wise decision IMO.
However, if your friend is not opposed to its "spirit" living on in other third gens, let me know what kind of $$$ he would want for it

Re: any one need any parts from a 86 2.8 or the entire car ?
well, a few things came up today that will make getting the entire car impossible. First, saw the tires on my wife's car...and promptly had to plunk down $300 on four new ones. Second, a guy stopped by and was really interested in purchasing the Geo I've been fixing up in preparation of selling. That means that I'm going to have to spend the next few days thrashing to get it finished -- then work nights. Need to get this all done by the 15th. However, if your friends plans change, let me know. I'll def have the funds after the geo is sold

I doubt you'd want to go through the trouble, but I could use the rear transmission bracket. What condition are the exhaust manifolds in, I'd like to switch to headers, but if those manifolds are good, I could save some money for a couple years.
