I've searched and looked, where/who makes aftermarket pistons for a 3.1RWD?

I want to raise the compression from the stock 8.5 IIRC to at least 9, would like 9.5SCR though. I'm basically going for a slightly performance oriented stock rebuild. (higher compression ratio, more cam, maybe headers and possibly ported larger valves in the heads.) I was looking at northern auto parts, for their master rebuild kit, but I'd just as soon buy the parts seperate and get my pistons and cam that I want.

I'm looking to try and push the engine from the stock 140 to 180-200 Crank HP using the compcams Chevy 16-233-4 V6 cam (says its a good performance cam for the 2.8 with a lope at idle, and good top end power

opinions suggestions welcome.

Dont say go with a 3.4 though, thats in the future I just want this car to run, later in a few years I'm going to start a 3.4/3500 hybrid turbo project. (that or by a 4th gen with a 3.8 and use the grand prix parts to turbo that)

Re: piston question
You can shave the heads and manifold to increase SCR. Custom pistons aren't cheap.

Re: piston question
The DOHC pistons will give you close to 10:1 IIRC at most, I plan on using those in my new motor.

But there was never a 3100 DOHC motor made?

Re: piston question
I didnt want to go custom on this build. just some domed pistons, but it appears no one makes them. I'll just stick with stock ratio then I'm not putting a whole lot into this motor, i just want my car to move again (its been siting for close to 2-1/2 years now.) maybe i'll rig a M90 from a T-bird SC up. about 6lbs of boost should do it

Re: piston question
Federal Mogul made forged performance pistons for the 2.8L. So you could destroke it and raise the SCR that way.

Re: piston question
If you do the M90 here is a thread that could give you some ideas. The M90 was mounted on a 3.4 in a 4th gen.

Re: piston question
Go to www.kb-silvolite.com and scroll through the silvolite section, they have replacement pistons for every 60* ever made. A lot to read through, but it's the best recource.
