questions about my 87' Firebird

hey i have a few questions.
i have a 1987 pontiac firebird v6 2.8 mpfi, i would like to know if eliminating the catalitic converter would increase horepower in my car, if so how significant ? also if eliminating the air filter and putting in a cold air intake is any good for it, also if so how significant ?

Re: questions about my 87' Firebird

It would increase only slightly, but you'll lose torque. A high flow cat replacement will do the small increase and won't kill torque. Do you(and your environment) a favor: keep the cat.

Don't know about the intake; Camaro has a different intake.

hey, dont worry about the cat yet, the exhaust manifolds are the worst restriction, get headers first........

There's no cai available as far as I know. You could gut the cat too.

Re: questions about my 87' Firebird

im asking this because my catalitic converter is old and its all tore up and radaling inside so i figured if i gut it out then i would be fine, also for the guy that said that exhaust manifolds go bad for this car, i no it deos cause i have a small leak in mine, but besides that the car is fine (great condition). by the way i am looking into selling it because i am thinking of getting a fourth gen so im trying to sell it by the end of next month, if anybodies interested ofcorse thanx

If you're around Knoxville, I might take you up on it.

It will let your exhaust flow better and that will give you more hp.
