hi, if i was going for torquey i wouldnt have a 4.10 i personally think youd just waste the torque band. 4.10's abit extreme. a cam would be good everyones each to there own, id look at crane personally, from what these guys say and the fiero boys you cant go wrong really. good luck.

Re: lovely 2.8l

If you want to build a torquey 'lil v6 the stock induction is a good place to start (it's good for something atleast). Grab a 3.4 block and throw some dohc pistons in it and a comp solid profile. Top it off with some pacesetter headers and you should have a stout 240ft/lb at 3500rpm. And forget the 4.10's, 3.73's would be better.

With the DOHC pistons, what'll that put the compression at?

Re: lovely 2.8l

I'm looking to build a torquey iron headed 3.4 aswell. I just don't want it to totally fall flat on it's face HP wise aswell.

Thanks b185c

Re: lovely 2.8l

Well I hate to say it, but it'll still be a turd in the hp department. Unless you do some serious porting to the intake manifold (extrude honing) it's still going to fall on it's face at about 5500 rpm. Even with gobs of torque it's still going to struggle to get past the 200hp mark. Frustrating, isn't it?

You could start by adapting a larger tb to it and port-matching behind it, but you need to be careful with the runners. Open it up too much and you're going to lose air velocity and all that nice torque.

Re: lovely 2.8l

I am building a 3.4 like these guys are describing. I am shooting for 200hp. I got a Comp 260H cam with a 114 lsa, ported heads, DOHC pistons, 1.6 roller tip rockers, LTs, and will be porting the manifolds as much as possible.

Re: lovely 2.8l

Horsepower. Basically torque gets you moving, hp keeps you accelerating.

Re: lovely 2.8l

ive always liked engines with equal amounts of T & HP so once you get started on the torque theres just a constant stream of non stop train like power from low down with no peakyness to it. nice. torque will get you going quicker to catch him hp will get you flying past
