Re: 3.4L Track Times
2.73s would make you even slower. A good set of 3.73s or 4.10s will help you. Those 3.23s are an improvent over the 2.73s though. I'd exepct for you to run mid 15s at the highest. Thats what I am shooting for with my motor being built.

Re: 3.4L Track Times
yeah i wasnt sure, people talk alot about the v6 rear being more desireable, swapping in 373 isnt too bad, when the build is finished the 3.4 stroker should be around 200 to the crank

Re: 3.4L Track Times
Probaby why people want the V6 rears is that we had better gears and they are everywhere in the boneyards.

Re: 3.4L Track Times
And why waste it on 200hp? Or do you have something planned that will need a forged bottom end?

Re: 3.4L Track Times
yeah im aware, i think the company is TRW or something makes forged pistons but their like 600-900 bucks for the set. I know the crank is forged though, i passed on the pistons, went with hypereutectic pistons, the motors running around 10.1 comp ratio, wish it was a little lower im looking at running a low boost procharger on it, customizing some brackets and giving it a go. prob round 5psi with a 600 series. Thats off in the future for now though, i gotta get the motor and trans in in a few weeks and get some suspension mods done and finish my interior. it just comes down to time???

Re: 3.4L Track Times
a lil for ya when i was fartin around w/the Poncho 400's back in early/mid 90's:
a nodular iron crank will flex before snappiing, forged crank will just snap.
fwiw, the original owner of my camaro got that thing to scream the 1320 in 15secs, 5sp W/3.42 rear from v8 donor. It does 16.5 now w/140k or so on the odometer & 1-2 sift not all that when stomped.
edit: also, (caint remember if the 87's still had this, but) rig the cold start injector for that extra umph.

Do you think a cast rod could do this?....
and this is what happens to pre-86 cranks when making power (nodular iron)...
You can't tell me the racing world has been using forgings for years, cast iron is not stronger or more flexable.
