Re: NEED HELP WITH PARTS

pace setter headers will fit, but aren't "smog legal" for the 3.1 engine. As far as teh 1 single best mod to buy? depends on what you're looking for. It's best to plan out a strategy & get things done as part of a package, x mod + y mod, + a&b mods down the road when you can afford it will net ____ performance improvements. But it's good to start w/a good base, and TomP's tune up is a great place to start.

Re: NEED HELP WITH PARTS

Start with the tuneup, my car ran better and got slighty better gas mileage, do a full seafoam treatment. For exhaust you can get the pacesetters and a Dynomax catback which bolts to the stock exhaust. K&N filters are nice also. All of these will give you some more power and a couple of mpg.

Re: NEED HELP WITH PARTS

Best mods ?

1. Tune up until its running perfect.
2. Exhaust (3" catback)
3. Suspension
4. Wheels / tires

# 1 needs to be done anyway.
2,3,4 will all be able to be retained when you come to the realization that the engine in there already is a waste of time, and spending money on that will only lighten your wallet.

Re: NEED HELP WITH PARTS

3 inch is way to big for a 2.8/3.1/3.4 unless its turbo/supercharged

just go to summit racing and search for headers for a 2.8 (like an 89 camaro) and those will fit. the 3.1 is really just a stroked out 2.8 unless i'm horribly mistaken. i've done a lot with the 60* v6 engine and it doesn't even compare to some of the guys on this board and after all of that work i haven't seen a difference in headers. since 3.1 was only made in 90-92 for camaros you don't really see as much parts as a 2.8, but the stuff is interchangable until you get into the bottom end. as for a good first upgrade, new filters would be good.

Re: NEED HELP WITH PARTS

The 2.8 and 3.1 are externally the same. If you do get headers then you would have to toss the AIR pump since it will get in the way.
