Which 3400 pistons??
With the 3.4/3400 hybrid which pistons should I use? Are all of the 3400 pistons the same? And what about the dohc 3.4s?

Re: Which 3400 pistons??
The dohc and 3.4 pistons will give you too high a c/r, you need to use either the early 3400 pistons w/ .06" head gaskets or the later deep dish pistons from '99-up cars.

Re: Which 3400 pistons??
ALL 3400 pistons are dimentionally the same. The only differences are in that some had coated skirts on pistons 5 and 6 in later years, IIRC starting in 2002. In the aftermarket you can get coated or non coated skirts for all pistons.
You are correct about the DOHC and genI (RWD) 3.4 pistons raising the compression too much.

Re: Which 3400 pistons??
Ok guys well looks like some stuff has came up and I cant do the hybrid. I'll be selling all of the stuff I have for the 3.4/3400. All you will need is a 3.4 block with some 3400 pistons and some pushrods. Id like to sell everything as a kit. heres what I got:
Rebuilt 3400 heads (cost $500 to get rebuilt)
3400 sandblasted lower and upper intake (3400 nubers have been shaved off)
3400 rocker arms
3400 fuel rails and throttle body
3400 valve covers
coil pack from a rwd 3.4
the good 3400 metal intake gaskets along with iridium spark plugs
$600 plus shipping for everything

Yes all but the coil pack. A lot of stuff came up, like the guy who i bought the 3.4 rwd motor from just disapeared off the face of the earth along with the motor so I lost 300 dollars on that deal and I'm moving to panama city FL soon and really need to start saving. Some things are more important than others. I really wanted to do this swap but right now I really need the money, and it looks like my 2.8 will have to do. If the a$$ hole didnt take off with my motor I would most likely still be doing it but I cant afford to buy another

Re: Which 3400 pistons??
I don't know his last name but his first name is Lou age 22ish. And he is local near Atlanta GA. I had been by his house a few times trying to pull the motor (he lives about an hour away from my house) Its been raining for the past week and went down today and the car was gone and house was empty. The car was totaled and I pretty much had the engine in the air the last time I was down there so its not like he drove it away it would have had to been towed. But either way It was my mistake to not get a bill of sell and unless i can find another shortblock "core" for like $100 I think im just gonna try to sell this stuff

Re: Which 3400 pistons??
That's why I don't pay for the item until I have it ready to drive away with.
I know that doesn't help, but something to think about for next time. If I had a RWD block I'd sell it to you, but all I have is a 3400 block, and my 3500, but no one is getting that.
