Lost Power

Lost Power
i own an '88 camaro with a 2.8L. the engine loses a significant amount of power after it has warmed up; if feels as if im dragging a boat behind me. also, every now and then the trans shifts late into second and third gear. other than these things, the car runs like a dream.
is there anything i can do about the first problem or is that just normal for these 2.8L engines?
as for the second part, is it a trans problem or do you suppose the computer chip is malfunctioning?
Thank you to anyone who can help me! ;D

Re: Lost Power
I'd say do the basics, check all your vaccum lines, filters, plug gaps, injector cleaner. Normally once there warmed they usually dont perform as well, but if its as significant as you say then just start pokin around. How many miles does it have? As for your tranny I'm not the best source but has it ever had a transmission flush? How does your fluid look? Is it low?

Re: Lost Power
yeah i've sort of noticed that on my 2.8 as well, but the loss of power isn't that significant.
so is this normal? and why?

Re: Lost Power
The motor goes into closed loop once it warms up. Once it warms up the O2 starts to monitor the air/fuel mix in the exhaust so your injectors aren't dumping fuel into your engine anymore. Mine runs rich so I don't notice much of a difference at all.

Re: Lost Power
What are your water temps???
Mine use to get real sluggish when it got warm, till I got my temps under control. 185-190 is the best, once ator over 200, things go down hill.
