Use the pulley's and brackets from your car. There are lots of pics floating around here, but I can dig some up if you can't find it in your search. Look for key words like "smog delete" etc.

You willl need to use the newer, serpentine front cover, to match with the reverse rotation water pump, along with the oil pan to match the front cover.

Re: pully set up

A little off topic here. But which heads are you using? The 82 motor that was installed was likely a carbed motor which had the smaller heads on them. The 88 heads you pulled out would be better heads.

Adding to that, the 82 motor also has smaller main journals on the crank

Re: pully set up

so your saying that the oil pan from the 88 block will bolt on to the 82 block?cause man when i first pulled the mortor i'm useing i pulled it outa my 86 firebird that i crashed last winter so i thought it was an 86 2.8 went and changed the oil pump had the hardest time finding the right gasket for the oil pan. we found it under an 82 2.8..

Re: pully set up

'82 to '85 oil pan gaskets are all the same.

The reason you need to change the oil pan, is because the front cover has a different flange where it meets the oil pan.
