Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

Mostly any mod will cost you a chunk of change.

I would have the y-pipe rebuilt to more of a true Y then a T.

Also change the air intake.

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

You want more power? This question gets asked a lot. I would read the stickies and do a little searching.

How much HP are you looking to get?

As suggested, I would look into the exhaust and intake. If you don't have to worry about emissions I would get a set of Pacesetter headers.

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

It sound like to me you want nitrous cheap power = nitrous get a sniper wet kit the one made for 4 cyl cars it has a 35,50 and 75 shot and its only like 300 bucks on ebay. It will take you like an hour or 2 to install if you follow instructions. Start with the 35 and work your way up.

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

What do you consider "good exhaust". If your talking just a muffler or catback.... that is not the choke on these cars. Its the "y"-pipe that is more of a T.

There are no direct turbo or SC kits for these cars. Turbo seems to be the fav and many are in the process and talks right now. Do a search and you will see a decent list of cars you can jack parts from and make your own kit.

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

I was planning on putting a M90 in my bird but it has a 3.4 and I ported the top end and opened up the exhaust and im happy with how it runs now. I am saving the M90 for a 3.4 hybrid that would go in my vega that is built for autoX.

Put some 3.73's in it. Won't be making any more power, but it sure will feel like it.

I believe there is a little gear in the tranny that you have to swap. I looked into that before...but havent made it that far.

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

this question does get asked often and often its gets answered with "use the search" but the search is in dire need of a tune up so here's my . first thing home made CAI costs like $60 and you do feel it. after that exhaust, pace setter headers. now they are not cheap but you can really feel and hear that. but thats only if your not worried about emissions. and from there it gets kinda complicated with custom turbo setups and 3400 hybirds and nitrous.

i saw a really great little saying on here once but i don;t know who said it but it goes a little some thing like this
cheap+easy=not pretty
pretty+cheap=not easy
pretty+easy=not cheap

Re: I want MORE POWER!!!!

Have you thought about a hypertech thermo master chip? I don't know if I got any more power, but it solved my running hot problem and I def. got a little more mileage from the plus gas I use.

lol, magical.

you could cut off some or all the bottom air boxes, like mine. I don't know if it made any more power because I did this before the car ran, but I did it to my friend's and he said it was a definite difference.

Wont work for him... he has a Firebird.

There are a bunch of things that you could upgrade that would make the car run smoother and have a better ride...but if you want more HP a couple hundred bucks...at least.

You have a "free flowing" exhaust? Aftermarket? Cat-back? High-flow cat? Headers?

Unfortunately if you want the SC/turbo route it has to be custom. It can be done semi-cheaply....but you get what you pay for.

I would say the easiest way to get a few extra HP is to upgrade the intake and exhaust.

Modify the 'Y' pipe or get a bigger diameter one 9as i did) with headers its a welcome change and sure sounds lovely at idle.
