86 Bird Cold?
Ok so i think i might need a new thermostat, the other night my coolent started boiling and then it did it agian 2 days ago when my pal ( the Cop) decided to take it on a bury the needle run down windy country roads. note at the time the alternator was dead and was just replace ealier today, i drve it around all day today and no prolem but my temp guage reads about half way between 100 and 220 sometimes a little higher than others, i need to know if its the thermostat or the water pump. i have a new oem tstate sitting in my center consol right now but i was wondering if the battery was low would it not have enough power to the water pump or maybe my thermostat is bad ( i live in the hudson valley of NY and now its been around 40-60 top degrees outside so i understand it running cold. i havnt had boiling coolant in the over flow today i just want to make sure that this issue isnt going to get out of hand. the heat was working today not the hottest but i also had it set on med fan settings just to be comfortable. my main question is there an easy way to test the water pump before i go ripping apart the throtle body to get to the thermostat to replace it?
