87 2.8l problems

hello all,

I have a87 2.8l camaro with the 5 spd.

when shifting from 2nd to 3rd when the car is warmed up, it back fires. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NO MUFFLER. i'm getting the Dynomax system either today or tomorrow, just waiting for it to arrive from Summit Racing.

when i say back fire i dont mean like..once and its fine, it backfires one after the other for about 30 seconds and then once i maintain a speed it runs well(i'm thinking spark plugs/wires, which i also have on order from Summit Racing)

i'm not really sure what to think at this point, but i was hoping someone might have some sort of insight for me. i'll be more than happy to give more specific information if asked.

Thanks Guys

I wonder if your valves are sticking that would cause constant back fire. But then again you say it runs fine after a minut of driving.

i'm pretty sure my motor mounts need to be replaced...i have two new ones in my back seat (i recently bought the car).

i really dont know what to think at this point, maybe i'll see what happens after i get my exhaust?

is your check engine light on? i used to have a similar problem, turns out my EGR solenoid was the problem.

Mine did the same thing before the ignition module died completely and wouldn't run at all. Might want to check that, especially if your tach bounces while it's misbehaving.
