Engine ID Code
Hey All,
I have this '88 RS with a V-6 I bought from a guy a couple of months ago. He told me that the engine was not the original (which would have been a 2.8) but was out of a '90. Hence the name 88-90 project! The car started losing all electricity while driving down the road and it turned out to be a loose battery cable on the starter and while I was checking everything out, I noticed the solenoid guts were loose and decided to go ahead and change that too. I went to the local parts store and told them I needed a solenoid for a '90 3.1l V-6 and there is NO WAY that solenoid was going to fit. After a little digging around we found one that would work from a '95. When I got home I did some research on the starter and realized that it could fit a '91 also. My problem is that I have an oil leak at the rear of the engine and I suspect the intake manifold. I can't get a gasket kit for the engine because I don't know what to get. I found the engine code in the front of the engine. I believe it is A920327DMC. Can anyone help me in determining exactly what engine I have or lead me in the right direction? I found some web sites but they are all about the V-8s - not much info about the V-6s available.

Re: Engine ID Code
Check the side of the engine. If it has an L on the side its a 3.1. If there is an F it is a 3.4 out of a 93-95 F-body.
Here is a pic of my 3.1...to give you an idea of where to look.
