fuel pump not getting any power...not running
fuel pump not getting any power...not running
I have a 89 firebird and the fuel pump relay had been bad on it for a while (about 2 moths)...because I never heard the pump working on the ON position...It would just take me a couple of tries to start it allowing the oil pressure start the pump instead of the pump relay (i didnt know that was the problem or else I would have changer it earlier) ...when I went to change the fuel pump relay...The car woulnt start at all anymore....I tried putting the old one back in and that didnt work either...
I though maybe the fuel pump had gone out completelly so I replaced it...but still no start....I have checked the fuse for the pump and its fine...idk what could be wrong...maybe the wiring is bad somewhere???
The pump does not get any power it seems like...The engine rotates but does not turn over...Help me out with some ideas on testing the wires or opinions on my problem

Re: fuel pump not getting any power...not running
Also...does anyone have any idea if on this model firebird...there is an in line fuse for the fuel pump?? (a different fuse for the fuel pump besides the one under the dash)
If so ...where???
I know on camaros they are on the passenger side fender (the battery is on that side)...On firebirds however the battery is on the left side...(i havent looked at it yet but i would assume its on that side where the battery is) just looking for a sure answer so I dont have to look around the whole area

Its from my GTA, it is a fuse, not a relay. Unclip the connector, and pull out the fuse.....
Re: fuel pump not getting any power...not running
Thanks a lot man...I located the "on the line" fuse box ...it wasnt at the same place as your picture though... I located it around the pasenger side fender ...opened it up and the 20 fuse in it was blown ....I replaced it and the car is starting and running like a champ again...
got a question though...which one behind the brake booster is the fuel pump relay.....there are like 4 relays back there (behing the brake booster) I went and bought a new relay...but the new one looks exactly like 2 out of the 4 (the other 2 are different)
