Re: new tranny
I will start by saying I am not an expert on this but I suggest going to a junkyard and finding another v-6 car with the manual trans (I have been told the bell housing is different on v-8 cars). Then take all necessary parts to do the swap. I am sure it can be done but you have to take the clutch pedal and linkage. I know this isnt very detailed but I am sure others will chime in. Good luck.
Re: new tranny
Well you could try the classifieds here. I've got a T5 from a V6 Camaro listed there right now. You'd have to figure out shipping but the price is right. You might find one on www.car-part.com also. The easiest way to get all the parts is a parts car.
You'll need a flywheel, clutch set, clutch fork, bellhousing, transmission, shifter, torque arm mount, clutch master/slave cylinders, clutch/brake pedals, and if you really want to do it accurate to a factory install, a steering column. Also don't forget the lower shifter boot that seals the hole in the transmission tunnel to the shifter, and the correct console plate with shifter boot.
Fortunately the driveshaft and transmission mount/crossmember are the same between the 5spd and auto. There's a so-so tech article on the main page. You'll also have to do some wiring for the neutral safety switch, reverse lights, etc. All in all it shouldn't be all that difficult if you can find the parts.
