Problem with Spohn rear sway bar

I didn't have a rear sway bar on my car stock, so I bought one from Spohn. Now as I am trying to install it, I ran into a problem.

The bolt holes on the bar don't 'quite' line up with the holes on the chassis mounts. The sway bars holes are about 1-1,5 inches forward of the chassis holes. What the hell? Check out the pictures.

The bar should be installed correctly and the car is resting on it's suspension. Anybody know what the problem is?

Yeah.......there are sway bar endlinks that go between the bar and the car

Yeah, no ****.

The idea is, that that the holes are not even close to alignment, so the endlinks would be in a 45 degree angle in relation with the the bolt hole surfaces. Is the correct? Because to me it seems screwed up.

I got nothing.

#2......I think he's right and by flipping the bar over (side to side), the holes will line up & the end links will be in proper alignment.

Yes, but it seriously seemed like he was being a smart ***. I mean the endlinks are more than obvious. But still I should've been more polite, true...

Yeah, tried that, but seemed ,like everything was even more out of alignment both height and front to back wise. Anybody have this bar installed? Is the center curve supposed to be at the base of the diff or above the diff?

Thanks a bunch. So it seems, that the end links won't be in a straight angle in relation with the bar or the chassis brackets. Still, seems a bit screwy, but I'll try it out.

Thanks everybody for the help. Once again thirdgen.org saves a lot of nerves, time and faith. And happy easter.

When I read your initial post, it looked like you thought JUST a bolt would connect the 2, not an end link.

Below the diff, to allow the diff cover to come off & gears to go in & out.

Don't forget....As the axle moves up & down through the suspension travel, the alignment will CONSTANTLY change, hence the bushings on the ends.

Re: Problem with Spohn rear sway bar

Yeah, suppose I just have to believe that the bushings and bar will bend sufficiently in suspension travel.

The end links bar itself won't bend. It'll be like a pushrod between the cam & rockers, Both ends are round (which is what the bushings provide, just don't OVER-tighten the end link nut) wich allow the movement.

It'll be fine.

And thinking about the center bend to clear the diff cover...You've got the bar on right. I think it would be in the way of the cover if you flipped the bar over.
