2.8 Starts then dies

I just picked this care up and had to replace the fuel pump. did that and we are now ready to start it up. The only thing is it will start and then die. it will do this as many times as the battery will let it. We used a paper clip to read the codes, one was 1 long flash and one short, the other was one long two short. The car is an 88 rs with the 2.8 any help would be appreciated.

their are no long flashes. it is 12.

x-xx-x-xx means it is in diagnostics mode, then reads you the code. im interested to find out the reason as there is a few camaros locally that are doing the same thing for cheap.

good luck.

Re: 2.8 Starts then dies

the tps is getting 5 volts on one plug and 50 millievolts so thats the problem i guess. It will run as long as you dont let it idel. At first it was running on 3 cylinders at first but we cleaned the spark plugs and it works now but still dies. But we have a friend that was a GM mechanic and has a reader for my car. I will let you know when i get this figured out.
