2.8 Problems

2.8 Problems

ok i finally got my car some what runnin. Now it will run if you keep the RPMs up. and when you rev it up quick it back fires into the intake. and will not stay running when trying to idle it. Timing is good, new TPS not adjusted yet, checked all plugs, and i am out of things to do now. any suggestions would be AWESOME!!

do you have your wires in the correct firing order? is there a check engine light? to adjust the tps you need a digital voltmeter and the correct voltage is 5.4 to 5.6 volts.

x2 on correct firing order. If you got a wire on the wrong plug it wont run worth crap. Also, another guy on here checked his plugs that he put in new and one was cracked. Fuel filter? These are all just suggestions. Is the CEL on? WHat are your codes?

Yes the CEL is on. I think i am about ready to trash the 2.8 and go with either a 305 or 350. I am pretty sure the fireing order is correct as my Grandpa is a mechanic and i ahave had a few other guys look at it. Could vaccume lines be a problem also?
