2.8 runs again....
2.8 runs again....
.....kinda, i finally figured out what was wrong with the 2.8 in my 88 RS the coil, cap and rotor were bad, the reason i didnt check this before now was the po had said he replaced them not to long ago. But now the car will not idle until it is warmed up, and when you rev it to fast it backfires into the intake hard enough to lossen the speed fasteners on the air filter cover. Could this be a timing issue or bad ECM or bad idle air or a combo of all of the above. The car also will not go into reverse, it will lunge a little but will not move back idk what is going on. Any sugjustions would be greatly apprreciated.

The first problem sounds lean or timing issue. Is it a stick or auto. if it is auto will it go forward in neutral?
Re: 2.8 runs again....
hahaha ya. tired of having to ride everywhere lol. ok i no longer need a motor as i am going to pick one up next weekend form Louisiana. BUT i still need a transmission for my car. having no reverse really SUCKS! i need to know what trans the car has in it does anyone know?? It is an 88 camaro with the 2.8 and auto. I have heard it is the 400r or what ever but i need to know. i am to thick in the middle to slide under the car and look for tags and to lazy to jack it up
