Bad starter?

i'm thinking my starter solenoid is sticking a little but i would like to get some v6 owners opinions before i yank the starter out.

i haven't had a starting problem with the car since i replaced the battery and disabled the alarm with the valet button, but the other morning i did.
it had sat all night and when i got in and turned the key i heard the dead battery "click". so i was thinking wtf, i need to find someone to jump me off.
then i turned the key off and turned it back on and got the click again.
i figured i would try one more time and wouldn't ya know it, as soon as i turned the key it fired right up. as soon as it started the battery gauge read normal (14v or so).
i've always had a strong start with the car (maybe 1/2 second count after i turn the key before it starts) so i am thinking the solenoid may be sticking a little. its either that or a bad battery connection.

so what do you guys think?

Re: Bad starter?

I would say for one, make sure all your connections are tight.. And i think places like advance auto can test starters and other things. Either way starters are not that expensive. I got mine for 110 i think...

i didn't know that advance could test starters, so thats good to know. i still haven't had a chance to check the connection on the starter but i did check the battery and its tight.
