rear coolant leak
pouring coolant from between transmission and engine. 99% sure its the rear freeze plugs. Are there any other locations that could cause a similar leak, just to check, like an intake gasket or anything?

Re: rear coolant leak
If its pouring out, i would almost be positive its a freeze plug. I have the same problem, but mine leaks about a quarter size of coolant when the car cools down.
Im interested to see what some others say.

Re: rear coolant leak
have you checked the fan switch? it's a sensor on the back of the passenger side head. my bet is still the freeze plug though. I've got my 3.1 sitting around I'll check what might do it tomorrow when it's daylight.

I've got it up on the lift this morning, pulling the transmission to check. I'm sure its a freeze plug though. If it were the fan switch leaking it would run around the bell housing, not through it. But i'll check...

Re: rear coolant leak
yea, there's a fan switch on a 350 but I'm not sure it's in the passenger side head. on a chevy small block I thought the fan switch was between plugs 1 and 3 or on the thermostat housing.

Re: rear coolant leak
It was all three freeze plugs, they had rusted out. I went ahead and did the complete block and thermostat. Now my car is throwing a code 15, which is coolant temp sensor. I'm not sure what could have happened to it, but it was fine before i started
. Replacing it tomorrow, we'll see what happens.
P.s. - its a 3.1l

Re: rear coolant leak
i was talking to camaro1185 about the 350.
sometime's weird things happen, i put the trans back in my talon and it wouldn't start because the fpr went out on it. complete other side of the car.
