Where o where does this wire go?
Well, to be honest, I have no idea where this is really going to or from. All I know is that the wire was cut and put hot glue on the end of it and is just hanging near the alternator. Seems to come out of the back near the fire wall and into some convoluted tubing...I don't see a spot where anything missing or another wire so I'm not quite sure. Just wondering if anyone would happen to know where it goes.

Do you have AC? is it an AC wire? I have a bunch of wires around in my car that I dont know where they go b/c the last owner removed the AC....

Re: Where o where does this wire go?
Ok....I just went out to look, and I'm not really sure.
Yours is an 87 and mines a 90 so theres gonna be some differences.
Like your EGR vavle is vacuum operated and mines electronically, but there shouldnt be that much of a difference....
I took some pics so we can compare and see if we can figure this out....

Is there any markings on the wires? I could look up a wiring diagram and maybe figure this out based on the color of the wires on the inside of it, and of course and numbers or lettering would def. help.

See anything? Sorry my phone takes shitty pics! haha My best guess is the wire on mine that goes into the connector on the support bracket for the alternator right behind it, know what I'm talking about? lol

Re: Where o where does this wire go?
Does the HVAC system blow out of any vents other than the defroster, for one, and does it blow cold, for 2? That "wire" appears to me that it's either A. the HVAC vacuum system inlet running to the diverter switch in the control head, or B. the HVAC system heater control valve control tube, which directs vacuum TO the valve to shut the coolant flow off out of the heater core. If the HVAC system only blows out of the defroster (default safety position in the event of a vacuum loss), no matter what position the selector lever is put in, it's the vacuum inlet to the system. If the HVAC only blows hot air, or somewhat warm air (not completely cold at any rate), the "wire" is the control hose for the heater control valve.
I'm willing to bet that the reason for the hot glue on the end of the hose is that it's a either a vacuum source or outlet, and the glue is plugging it.
:edit: I'll bet it's the control hose for the heater control valve, which seems to be missing in your above pic.

Re: Where o where does this wire go?

1: Looks like something for the HVAC but I'm not looking at the car
2:Thats the vacuum line that goes into my MAP sensor I know that much
3: Looks like a line from the transmission to the radiator, either that or a fuel or brake line, its metal.

I'll try and see if I can get it to move...What you bet seems to be right as far as the idea goes, how would I go about finding the heather control valve...
1. Seems more like hte culprit than any of the otehrs I see.

Re: Where o where does this wire go?
The HVAC blows out of all the vents it only seems to blow hot, I cant even get the temperature selector switch to move! I'm afraid to break it.

Yeah I agree
Re: Where o where does this wire go?
If its a hard plastic tube (not a wire but about the size of one) its the vacuum line for your temp. valve. Its a valve that uses vacuum from the HVAC system to divert coolant from your radiator over to your heater core inside your dash. The most likely reason the PO used hot glue on the end was to stop a vacuum leak from occurring when he removed the temperature valve. If you want to be able to switch from cold to hot you'll have to install a new valve and make sure your coolant lines are hooked up to your heater core.

However the Vac line is not long enough to make it reconnectable..., how would I go about replaceing or extending this.

Re: Where o where does this wire go?
Just have to find out what part you need to get fron napa or where ever and get enough of it to re route it back to where it needs to go, youll have to trace it if you want to do it yourself
Re: Where o where does this wire go?
you can pick up new hard plastic vac lines at just about any auto store, they should also sell rubber couplers right next to the lines. If you don't want to trace the vac line all the way back (it goes into your dash in the front and can be a pain) just get a rubber coupler, clip the line somewhat close to the firewall, and add in the new vac line.
After your done you can test it by running your engine with the temp. set to cool. Once the engine warms up change to heat instead of AC and feel the hose going to the heater core, it should warm up to the touch (because of warm coolant flowing through instead of being off).
Let us know how it works out!
