he does plan on getting a 3.4 in the near future though to drop in he needs the car asap so thats why we just went with the new cam n topend on the 2.8 instead of waiting to find a 3.4 shortblock

Re: MY LIVE BUILD THREAD

What heads are going on that block? The stock iron ones? I dont think the 3x00 heads would work too well with those flat-tops. The compression would be comparable to a diesel lol

You haven't seen the cam I was going to get, dynamic compression would've been 10 something, crower makes a god awful huge cam for the 60/6, If I ever wind up going N/A instead of turbo I'll get it, but probably more likely I'll go turbo, more headroom for max power, and a lot less hard on the engine than an 8k redline flat tappet solid cam and lifters would be.

As for the 3.4 block I will eventually swap one in when I have more time and money to do it, my DD needs work and is out of inspection atm, so I'm trying to finish the Camaro quick so I don't have to waste more cash on my POS buick century.

Re: MY LIVE BUILD THREAD

I'll get that CSI sent out Friday when the check has cleared, probably on my way to getting the OTHER ECM out of that '91 in the junkyard. (Don't know why it had 2, one on the harness on the floor and the other on the bracket under the dash, unplugged--didn't know it had the bracket under the dash and thought it had already been removed--may even get a free MEMCAL with it ).

BTW, since everything is still pretty much loose on the engine harness, could one of you guys take a measure for me between the part where the oil pressure unit and injector harness side of the harness meets up with the wiring from the throttle body (under the crank pulley) so I can get to fixing the 3.1 harness I bought off of a guy on here? I need the measurement between the injector harness connector and that union. I'm really going to have to give that guy some neg feedback on that one .

LMK if you need a diagram for the vac hoses... I have a hood from an 85 with the sticker on it. It's not exact because it's a Bird hood, but it should point you as to what goes where. It doesn't take long to snap a pic.

im oing to set him up with a 3.1L vacum system layout so he can run his other tb ,alot of the factory 2.8 hard plastic lines were broken so it works out pretty well

bte those 2 pictures i posted few posts up are videos just click on them to watch them, car sounds pretty good with open headers and the cam from delta

You wouldn't mind sending those 3.1 diagrams my way, would you? I don't think I have any, and the donor had them painted over .

its pretty much the same setup as the 2.8 except the 3.1 dosent feed the idle air down to the back of the manifold the air is actually introduced behind the tb blade instead. so it has a diff fitting for the hose from the pcv to intake

almost everything else is the same except the egr is digital on a 3.1 so no vacum line,

id send u a diagram if i had one i just happened to prety much memorize were most of the hoses go

I already knew most of that... I had to make a idle air pipe for the 2.8 parts because the idiots at the shop that dropped the 3.1 parts in decided to run the 3.1 PCV pipe and not the 2.8 one, plugging off the IAC OUTLET and causing me to lose idle speed control for almost 2 years. That was fun! Not to mention I had a heck of a time piecing things together since they left a good number of things disconnected (EGR, canister, cruise control).

I was, in particular, wondering just what connects to the rubber block on the TB on a stock 3.1... I'd go to the yard and find out, but the guy there is very **** about taking complete engines that are still "good" apart to find out what goes where (and, like I said, the PO of the harness donor decided to have the emissions and other stickers painted over when the car was repainted black). I can't even trade the upper 3100 plenum I have for one from a pre-96 car with the 3-solenoid EGR, even though most of those engines are junk (and there are a LOT of them in that yard).

From what you describe that sounds like the CTS, it should have a 3 wire plug if that's what it is. A picture would help..
