Re: timing chain

Short list: A/C compressor, power steering pump (both with brackets), crank pulley and damper, water pump WITH timing cover (TC gasket set comes with gaskets for both the pump AND the cover AND a new oil seal if you got the right set). Then you unbolt the cam gear and slide it off, sliding the chain off of the crank gear and then pull the crank gear off with a puller. You do NOT need to remove the alternator or bracket, but you may want to at least remove the tensioner to gain access to the heater core outlet hose.

Of course, that all is for a car with a serpentine belt. Not sure about V-belts, but I think they're close to the same.

Re: timing chain

You should have the room to do everything with a v6. I would take everything off (Alternator,Waterpump,Power steer pump) just remove everything off the front. Make sure to take a pictures and right down notes. Remove the center bolt off the pulley down below. You will need to buy or rent a harmonic balancer puller and installer. Remove the harmonic balancer. Remove the timing cover off. You will see the timing chain, now you will need a gear puller which you can rent from autozone. Make sure to remember where the dots are on the timing gears because they will need to go back there. You will want to buy all new gasket and just do everything in reverse.

Re: timing chain

V-belts are pretty easy, water pump and pulley, crank pulley, I think PS pump can't recall for sure if the bracket bolts to timing cover or the block, alternator shouldn't be in the way, and for the parts, get the comp cams timing set from summit, $40, i was going to get one from autozone for convenience sake, they wanted $130 for the exact same thing, i had a good laugh at that...
