Car not turning over
Car not turning over
Hi everyone! Hope yall can help me. I have a 92 firebird 3.1 v6 automatic. I bought the car for a good price from my ladys father, the only problem is the car sat for about 2 years! YES 2 YEARS! I can hear the fuel pump kick on when in acc mode. I dont know what to do. Give me some ideas of what the problem is or maybe one good idea. I was thinking of dropping the gas tank and clean, get new fuel lines and fuel filter, then new injectors, is there anything else? thank you for any help, this car is very beautiful and would love to drive!!

Re: Car not turning over
You need to list specific symptoms, such as, does the starter crank the engine? "turning over" seems to mean different things to different people.
If the engine is cranking but not firing, then the first things you do is check for fuel and spark. It's a good idea to drain the fuel if it's been sitting for a long time. You may discover that your fuel filter has become clogged, so check that as well.
If you are not getting spark, then you have to troubleshoot ignition... but in any case, I would not try to run that engine on old fuel if I could avoid it.
