Smoke headlight covers
Hey guys I have an 89 RS, when I go on ebay I find some smoke headlight covers that are around 35$, the descriptions say for the IROC and z28's only, and "not the regular camaro". It seems to me like the dimensions of the lights are the same between iroc and rs.
I'm asking this because "RS" covers go for 50 to like 100$
Anyone know anymore about this? Can I use the "IROC/z28" covers?

Re: Smoke headlight covers
I think that it doesn't matter, pretty sure we all have the same headlight pockets, but on the other hand I know the grille/nose did change a little from year to year, but post this in the "Body" or "Auto Detailing and Appearance" this section is for engines.. you're a lot more likely to get answers over there, in fact I wouldn't doubt it if its already been answered, try a search on them.

Re: Smoke headlight covers
Zero improvement of any kind, they're strictly cosmetic.
As for the original question, the 1988 Sport Coupe, 1985-1992 RS/Z28/Iroc front bumper is all the same piece so the headlight covers should be the same. 82-84 Z28, and 82-87 Sport Coupe use a different front bumper cover and probably will need a different cover.

Re: Smoke headlight covers
Its lack of daytime windjammer lights adds 5-10MPG and a full 2 sec in the quarter miles.
That’s what greased up deaf guy said.
So you know its true

LOL these covers look BADASS ... When they're actually still on the car
No but seriously, I am on my 4th set and they are not on the car as I have not figured out a way to install them yet because my last 3 sets flew off on the highway! Sometimes I was going 100mph, sometimes I was going 60mph.. Once I went 110mph and they were still on good..
Ultimately, you would probably need to drill a hole in the bumper and fabricate some sort of bracket that would bolt it in place. I was thinking of sealing it around the edges but it might look like crap.. Maybe using more of those little black "L" brackets to hold it in place? I don't know but they need to make those brackets on the side (the straight ones that are on with adhesive) stronger because they always snap under tension (from the wind, bumps, etc.)

Re: Smoke headlight covers
Lots of those metal tabs and some clear silicone would be good to glue them down, but still come off if you had to. Sticks well to a smooth surface. Think fish tanks, smooth glass holding tons of water, with just a ting bead of silicone on the edges.
Though wish someone would re-pop the Firebird ones and have em look right like on KITT, smooth edges which has to mean the plastic is beveled to start, n still probably need a final hand sanding to make it fit tight to a nose. only ones made aren't even beveled to start, making so much work, cheaper to make your own.
