Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
Where can I buy those turn signal covers???
Or is it a DIY job for a regular Bird?
The Kitt car nose is shapped a bit different n don't think they would fit.

Not sure if they offer them for regular style... I know the knight rider sites have links for different builders of the nose piece... I had a customer several years ago when I was working in auto parts that fabricated covers for his t/a out of Plexiglas then tinted it all.. he had covers for the turn signals and the fog lights as well as the taillights on his third gen.. wish I would have been able to talk to him more about it... sure it can be done... btw that notch-back is awesome...

I like that it smooths out the nose even more, not into in the tinted black out look. Have no clue how those are even held on. I see no clips, must just be a few dabs of glue in spots???
The notch was a stroke of luck, its good to search craigslist now n then

I fully understand the craigslist thing... I know the knight black outs for the fronts are held on by L shaped brackets that are attached to the nose and the glass has velcro strips on the edges at the bracket locations... maybe 1/8 in. wide... just knowledge from snooping at star cars in gatlinburg, tn... was curious

GTS made them for our cars back in the day, they were listed under Headlight covers, even though they only covered the parking light and headlight trim.
L bracket and Velcro held them on.
I had smoked covers on my old Camaro, but couldn't see crap at night,

Anyone know what kind of plastic they should be made from and the thickness to withstand daily sun out an outdoor kept car?

I'm a newbie and all, but what about cutting up some Camaro taillight covers?
They're tall, long, flat mostly. You could probably nail out 2 covers with 1 side, then do another set and use which one came out best?
They're already tried and tested to withstand the sun 24/7 as well
Would save you the trouble of figuring out a good thickness and deciding which way to tint them.

Re: Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
The Knight Rider people make them out of tinted acrylic sheet stock. You can cut and shape it like wood. They are always looking for better ways to mount them. Some put brackets in and velcro or screw them down, some make a shelf into the nose itself, lots of different methods.
The first versions of these cars seen in parts of the pilot had a nose that looked a bit more like a stock nose. Since these were supposedly the first 3rd gens, I often wonder if that extended hood was factory, and changed before production. The shape and all is the same as lines on the stock nose.

Been looking at my stock nose and they look easy but hard, the front edge would need a heck of a bevel to not stick up or have a lip.

They are also dead obvious, look at the first post pic and his pic, he must not bevel the edges so they blend in right, what I was talking about.

Try http://www.classicindustries.com
Select your vehicle, then click Body Components > Exterior Styling > Light Covers and look for turn signal covers.
I haven't tried them and there's no photo, but they might be what you are looking for

Re: Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
GTS used to make them and I had it on my 89 GTA until one of them flew off on the highway. It used a locking velcro on an L bracket
Re: Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
82-84 & 85-90 would be shaped different on the ends (the sides closet to the outside of the nose)
I used to have link to place online that had GTS's old inventory, but I think they are all gone now.
I wanted a Clear Pair to Paint (would still love a Pair)

Re: Anyone make turn signal cover like this for regular Birds???
i have 2 sets for the 82-84 one is a gts, another is some other brand, i would have to look them up. i will sell for 25 each plus shipping, i did make a set once for my 82 wasnt too hard to do, use clear plastic sheeting, tape it over front and trace with black marker, cut, transfer to black lexan, then make some brackets, you can use some 1/2 or3/4 thick plexiglass, cut down into a wedge shape for sides, then alot of test fitting
