Sounds like someone already did some custom plumbing to your car- there's no such thing as a quick disconnect from the factory. Where is this quick disconnect/what does it look like?
Re: Replacing The Quick Disconnect for the heater hose with plumbing parts
haha. nah, it's definitely stock. im probably just calling it by the wrong name. it's the pipe that goes into the intake manifold right below the upper radiator hose inlet. it runs coolant past the throttle body then into the intake manifold. it has a plastic clip in it that holds it in place but i broke it during a rebuild. I question why GM didnt just make it a hose. of all the parts they could have put a quick disconnect on.

There is a quick disconect stock. It pushes into the connector that is threaded into the intake manifold base. It splits off into three lines one goes to the heater control valve and the other two go to the throttlebody coolant passages. Its held in by plastic. They sell them at Autozone. I did what your trying to do on the same engine. If i remember You need a 3/8 hose barb and a Heater hose from a honda? it just has to be long enough and have a pre formed 90. I tryed ever other combo and the hose always pinched off. The other option is to remove the manifold and thread a 90 into. That can only be done with the Manifold off though because while there is enough clearance to have it there you dont have enough clearance to turn/ tighten it. I can get pics if you want.

I got the hose and the hose barb from Autozone. I think it was under $20. The hose barb is in there performance isle, and the heater hose was on one of the top hooks in the back just tell them that your doing something custom and that they cant look it vehicle specific and they should take you back to look at the hoses.

thanks a lot. i really appreciate the input. doing it that way would bypass the throttlebody. another thought i had is a little hard to explain but ill try anyway.
would it work if i were to put a hose barb into the intake manifold and run a really short piece of hose over the barb and over the metal tube that was meant to go into the quick disconnect

It might work im not sure. I didnt do it that way because I wanted to bypass the throttle body coolant passage.
