alternator wire hookup, can't recall which goes where

The red wire coming off the pigtail with a loop connector on one end, does that go on the terminal of the alternator, along with the big thick black one coming from the battery area? And does it matter which goes on first?

Or if someone could just take a good picture of the wires going into it that would also help.

Technically, the red wire is supposed to go to the junction block behind the headlights with an inline fusible link, but I've seen setups that just run to the post with the battery wire. Question is, why isn't there another wire? There should be at least 1 more wire, I think.

:edit: Yes, should be a brown wire in the "S" terminal, coming from the rad fan relay. Unless the alternator has a self-exciting voltage regulator.

Yarp. Finally found some data on wiring it up after I found out it only had one wire on the connector, its self exciting, so correct me if I am wrong here, but connect that red wire coming off the connector to the alternator post with the other black cable going up toward the battery, I actually think the way mine is setup is that it does go to the junction block, it just uses a connection point at the alternator post? Red wire has a loop connector on it(from old connector) So I am pretty sure thats the way its supposed to go, let me know, trying to get this thing on the road today =/

Yes, the red wire MUST see battery positive somehow, either at the junction block or the BAT terminal on the alternator (which is probably connected TO the junction block).

yarp, pretty much what I did, really didn't see any other logical way to do it, and I knew the one wire deff went to that terminal cause i had it taped up so it wouldn't short anything out, and the red wire
on either connector was really only long enough to reach that terminal.

Unfortunately my engine still doesn't want to hold idle, but I realized I made a rather big error, I overlooked the gasket design on the LIM, the last time I did it, they had tabs on each side that came inboard, this one I had to rtv the crap out of it...but I overlooked doing that the first time, set me back a whole damn day(it was at least 2 when i started tearing it down...still putting it back together, working in the dark sucks ***....but I just want to bloody drive my car so bad....hopefully no more problems here on out...I had some nice melting too, damn shop left the bat to starter cable on the header, and the o2 sensor wire conduit too...saw smoke and stopped throttling it, had a coolant leak or two as well..
