headlight converison question
headlight converison question
I was driving home last night and was being followed by an annoying pissant in a gold lumina of the same year as my bird (91). Lately I've been driving slower at night because well, Arkansas is the deer capital of the world I swear and I've already slammed into a buck in my brother's car which I am now paying to repair and my bird has no brights because the lever is worn out. So I chose to drive slower and tried to turn off on a country road to lose him to give him the main road but this moron follows me down the dark road and rears up on me, can't even see his headlights anymore he's so far up my *** and then guns it around me like his pants are on fire doing 80. Uggh...so with all this being said my stock headlights (as I'm sure you guys all know) are crap, can't see hardly anything so what is the brightest legal bulb I can get for my headlights to upgrade them? I wanna burn some retinas lol. What all is involved in a headlight upgrade? I don't know the difference between h3, angel blue/halo lights, xenon, etc. What do I need to get the highest possible brightness?? Thanks guys

I'd love to know too. Apparently (from what I've read on the 'net) there's something called a "cutoff", that when people mess with their headlights, they can't afford the cutoff (or they don't bother installing it)- and without the cutoff, it shines in everyones eyes.
I'm just amazed at a traffic light, my lights will be aimed at the bumper of the car in front of me and not going into his back window or side view or rear view mirrors. At the same light, I'll have a car (not a truck) behind me, and he's shining into my back window and side/rear mirrors and blinding me from all angles; can't even see my own dashboard anymore. Obviously something's not right!

Re: headlight converison question
I know this is a headlight topic, but, I am new to the site and would like some help. I am wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction of new taillights. I am wondering if there is a company out there that makes taillights that are brighter and more up tp date. You know what I mean, like chrome inside instead of just silver paint. I know you can get taillights that have red instead of the yellow...
Any help would be much a ppreciated!

Just be careful what you get, I believe anything above a certain k is illegal and will get you a ticket, colors other than white or blue might too I think...not sure though..
Re: headlight converison question
Tell me about it TomP!!! Those dodge rams and f-150s have their headlights spaced out just far enough and set high enough that they fit almost perfectly in each of our f-bodies side mirrors and like it's not enough they have to have like twenty foglights, when I first bought my bird (before I shattered the safety glass in my original trunk like a doofus) the guy had it tinted in this glaze like film and it did better about keeping bright light out.
Almost every other car here in arkansas has halo projector lights or xenox bulbs, I've seen white, blue and yellow here but I'm just going for either the white or blue so long as it's brighter.
And thank you for the links project89, I will look into that and maybe order that after I get the new turn signal lever.

Tafsky, I seem to remember there was a guy who made custom taillights where he replaced the stock bulbs with red LED strips. Not sure if he sells just the strips or the whole taillight assembly but I seem to remember it was the 82-84 style that he used in the pics, I'll see if I can find it again and i'll post the link if I find it.

Re: headlight converison question
Hey that's a cool article, thanks for the link. I guess he's saying that by using an H4 bulb and housing, it'll always be brighter than the stock-style bulbs? Or did I read that wrong?
Re: headlight converison question
Thanks guys! I just figured that if they made tailights that were chromed inside insted of reflective silver paint it would be enough, coupled with a brighter bulb, to update the look and not be illegal. I'm not looking to blind anybody just make the lights more efficient and brighter.
