Garrett leaf blower? (electric supercharger)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ELECT...Q5fCarQ5fParts

Saw this on ebay while looking for performance possibilities for my fiero the description make's it sound legit but I think it's just a fancy leaf blower. Would 3 psi boost even give decent power? I'm just curious thought Id post it here.

Re: Garrett leaf blower? (electric supercharger)

. The blades spin at 6600 rpm for 12 volt and 13200rpm for 24 volt.
it would never spin fast enough to make any useable boost most turbos have to spin 30k-100k rpms while making boost. at most that apears to be a 1/4hp electric motor well under boost it would take much more power then that to keep the blades spinning.

u would have much better luck taking basically what they did with that turbo and converting one into a belt driven supercharger,

Re: Garrett leaf blower? (electric supercharger)

Y'know, someone actually put together one of those that actually work. It was ridiculously expensive and heavy, but it put out enough for a 60hp boost for about 10 seconds. They stuck 3 starters to a 6-71 sized blower and connected them to 2 packs of 5 motorcycle batteries. Seems like a massive waste to prove a point if you ask me.

And look at the size of the power wires... They are tiny!

If it's honestly drawing enough amps to make any sort of measureable boost, those wires would melt. I call BS on this

Re: Garrett leaf blower? (electric supercharger)

Don't you think if this stupid idea worked that everyone would be running them? I am no SC expert, but 3 lbs of boost? No it ain't gonna help...

my thoughs exactly. probably doesnt spin much faster than a cooling fan. Anything more and you would be looking at much larger loads and larger wires sizes, probably the size of a battery cable.
