Slight knock on start up

I've noticed that if I don't start my car for a few day's when I go to start it up it make's a knocking coming from what sounds like the top of the engine for like 10 seconds then it goes away, after that I just hear the noisy lifter tapping away. I believe I have 2 bad lifters one makes noise at idle slightly and the other makes a louder tap when given acceleration. Could the lifters make the slight knock on the top end when it starts up?

I second that. Don't get cheap oil filters or cheap oil changes. They pay for themselves in the long run.

Which one? I like the tough gaurd ones, but not the extra gaurd ones. The extra guard do not have an anti drain back valve in them.

id stay away from the fram filters, i personally wont put anything but a delco filter on mine, the only exception would be a remote mount canister filter if i ever decide to put one on

I'm using the extra guard filter, I'm guessing I should replace the oil filter then? Also now that I have a thread going, When I replace my lifters I want to do a cam swap and was looking at this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MEL-CL-MTC-5/ I would just like to get a little more torque out of it. Would this be a good choice for that?

Thats the cam I put in my engine that is still getting put back together so I can't tell you how much it gave me but I can tell you if you order that same cam from Autozone you will save about 60 bucks. It is 116.99 at autozone.

Re: Slight knock on start up

116 doesn't sound too bad, I'm going to try delta cams and with the camaro and for my fiero I'll probably end up trying the Melling M-Select camshaft.
