Timing
Timing
A few weeks ago I had some mechanic I know tweak with my timing chain. Now I can smoke my tires on a power brake at 2K rpm's. But since my bushings are shot to $h1T so my rear end starts jumping off the ground. Has anyone ever tried doing this, and also where can I get some new bushings for my car at a cheap price.

Power braking is where you have your left foot on the brake and your right on the gas...you can make the rears spin while the car is held in place by the front brakes.
REALLY not a good idea...think about all the friction and resistance going through your rear end driveshaft and tranny. Not to mention frying your rear brakes, u-joints and tires that much faster. I've done it once or twice, but I seriously wouldn't recommend this!

Is it bad if you only have an automatic or is it the same with a manual? And plus thats the only way we can burn out without going anywhere. And thats another thing! Ive seen on here where you guys have b*tched about how you cant even get a chirp from a dead start! I can get white smoke flying and chirp going into 2nd. So whats wrong with that picture? And I have NO mods except for K&N and Dynomax!
It is hard on a tranny no matter if it is a manual or auto. Although, it is pretty difficult to do with a manual, but I have seen it done. And what is this about not being able to spin your tires on takeoff? That only happens to me if I have new tires.

It's "bad" no matter how you look at it.. just don't do it every time you drive.
On an automaGic, a powerbrake is hurting the torque convertor the most. On a manual, it's likewise hurting the clutch.
I only do burnouts when I'm "sure" that the motor and trans are warmed up, and running fine.
Oh and I bet if I didn't have P275/60r15's in the back, I'd be spinning from a stop also. Did I mention I chirped the 1-2 shift last week? Yeah!

BTW I advanced my timing by 2* and gained 2 tenths of a sec.Kind of ironic ain't it.
2degree of advance=2tenths
makes you wonder if 4degree of advance=4tenths

It doesn't though.
