Swapping out FI for Carburator
Swapping out FI for Carburator
I'd like to know how difficult it would be to install swap out my fuel injection setup for a carburator. How much would it cost and how much time does it take???? 2.8L V-6 MPFI

why? just curious. Remember the old 2.8's with carbs didn't put out as much as our FI's, but if you do it, make sure you get the hi-performance carb, and not a stock one.
WHY???? If I was going to make that change I would get the Edlebrock Manifold, and Holley 4 Barrel that fits it and make sure I kept the eletric fan and ported the heads so hopefully it would be faster.

i neer understood why people wanted to go from FI to carb, especially on engines as small as ours.. youd lose so much power it would be rediculis, if your 2.8 fbod has too much power, drop in a 2.5l iron duke motor for about 90 some hp at the rear wheels..
Eh... It would be EASIER to make power by ripping out the POS computer and FI, and slapping that Edelbrock 4bbl intake and a Holley 390cfm 4bbl carb.
Wouldn't even come close to being emissions legal, though. No EGR system on that intake...
I've thought long and hard about whether I should stick with a carb setup, or switch over to some form of FI. If I switch to FI, I'm going to go with an SFI setup, not MPFI. No distributor to worry about, just a crank trigger, and three coil packs.
Blah... Talk to someone who's had that intake and carb. They're worth it for cheap power that's easy to maintain.

It's probably just me, but I'd rather have the distributor than the coil packs & crank trigger. I can rebuild my distributor for $80...
